Vilnius International Airport is the primary Lithuania's international airport (low-cost carriers fly to Kaunas, and during summertime several airlines have connections to the seaside Palanga.

There are 300 regular flights per week in the winter and 320 regular flights per week in the summer, the rest being charter flights. The airport served just over 29 thousand flights in 2005, with 1.3 million passengers.

The Airport is built on the plateau in the 7 kilometres south of Vilnius. Some several West- and North- bound planes fly over the city center after lift-off or just before landing, offering splendid views to passengers but little plain detail to spoters.
