Verona Villafranca Airport, know as Valerio Catullo, is located near the territories of Villafranca di Verona, Dossobuono and Sommacampagna, it is about 12 km from the center of the city of Verona. Verona it is among the first italian airports for charter flights!


Official Spotting Locations

There are 6 spotting points near the airport.

IT IS REQUIRED a HIGH VISIBILITY JACKET for spotting in Verona. The jacket it must be used on these spotting points: CANALETTA, CALZONI, TOWER, PANTINA.

In ALL spotting points it is STRICTLY PROHIBITED create holes in the fence, leave garbage, damage the signs along the fence and everything that goes against the italian law. It is recommended have identity documents in case of inspection by Military Police.

CANALETTA

From this spotting point you can take pictures of all aircrafts during the taxi to the apron or to the runway 04 and the departures (or landings when runway in use is 22) from runway 22. It is recommended from early morning until midday in summer and winter (in summer time pay attention, possible warm in the pictures and backlight). ATTENTION It is prohibited to enter on this close road by car or motorcycle!! There are two parking: The first is pay parking but, the second one, is free! Please, left the vehicle in one of the two car parks, thanks.

CALZONI

Located in the village of “Calzoni” at the end of a country road, from this point you can take pictures of all aircrafts arriving and departing on runway 04/22. This point is good for all day in winter time (from November to March). During summer is good from early morning until 9:00am to avoid much warm in the photos. ATTENTION Please, don't enter with your car or motorcycle on this spotting point! At the beginning of the street there is a little car park, you can left the vehicle here. If this car park is fully, park here Thanks!

TOWER

This point is located after the control tower in a narrow road close to the crops, from this point it is possible to photograph aircrafts when touching down and taking off from RWY 04 and RWY 22. This point is good from early morning until the sunset in winter time (from November to March approximately). In the summer time is good from early morning until 9:00am to avoid much warm in the photos. The recommended lens is a 18/200mm or 70/300mm and a little ladder for overhang the fence and with two wooden boards used to support the ladder. [45°23'29.34"N - 10°53'08.87"E] Google Maps

ATTENTION To reach this point by car, follow the country road at this link and proceed with caution! There is the possibility to find a checkpoint by Military Police at the end of this road or a simple control by authorities.

PANTINA

From here you can take pictures of aircrafts taking off and landing as well as taxiing to runway 04. This point is good in the afternoon from 3 pm to sunset during spring and summer time. The suggested lenses are medium-short opticals like 18/200 mm and 70/300 mm. PESCHETO

Located in the village of Caluri, from this spotting point you can take pictures of all aircrafts approaching RWY 04. It is recommended from early morning until midday in summer and in winter. HILL or Q8

Located near a fuel station (Q8), from there you can take pictures of all airplanes landing RWY 22 and taking off from RWY 04. This point is very good when RWY 22 is in use and from 3 pm till sunset in summer and winter time. The recommended lens is a 70/300 mm and beyond. If you don't want to go in the various spotting point along the airport, there is the possibility to take some pictures from the bar situated on the departures terminal, first floor. From this point you can photograph the aircrafts on the apron.

The Verona Airport can be reached by car from the A4 and A22 highways.

  • Arriving from Brescia: take the SOMMACAMPAGNA EXIT and follow the 'Airport' signs.
  • Arriving from Vicenza, Mantua, Trent and Bolzano: take the VERONA NORD EXIT and follow the 'Airport' signs.

By Bus service from the Verona "Porta Nuova" railway station.
