Official Spotting Locations

Observation Deck

The entrance to the observation deck of Stuttgart's airport is located on the top floor of Terminal 3. There is a 2,50€ fee for adults, 1€ for teenagers under 16 and 1.50€ for handicapped people.

The opening times are:
April - September: 8:00 - 21:00h
October - March: 9:00 - 18:00h

Since the observation deck is on top of the terminal buildings it is really long. When aircraft are approaching on rwy 07 you can see them better, since the rwy 25 is on the other end of the airport. However there is a fence. Depending on what kind of lens you use you might be able to navigate in between. If not, photography opportunities won't be that great for you. Also the gates are a little further away compared to the observation deck at FRA. Other than that, it is a pretty good place to go spotting.

Facilities and Transportation

Public Transport

The airport can be reached from the city center/main station by suburban train (S-Bahn-lines S2/S3). The journey takes 27 minutes. There are also several bus lines from surrounding villages.

The "REAL" parking lot is close to the bus station "Bernhausen Nord-West-Ring". There is no direct bus line from the Terminal area, therefore you have to change. Journey time is aprox. 15 Minutes. From the city center you need to change from light rail (U5/U6) tu buses in 'Degerloch'.

You can get your best connection at the Electronic Timetable Information by the regional transport authority: VVS

The spot "Hill 25" is also reached via this bus spot, but it needs a bit of walking to the east.
