One of Ireland's smallest airports, Sligo Airport is at Strandhill, just 5 miles from Sligo town. The airport first opened to passengers in 1983 and it is the gateway into the north-west of Ireland.
Aer Arann is the only scheduled airline currently based at the airport. It operates flights to Dublin and Manchester. Sligo Aero Club is also based at the airport and it operates a helicopter and several other light aircraft.
