The second platform can be found at the long distance train station (not to be mistaken with the local train station in the terminal!). Just one ticket gives you admission to both observation decks. Because the rail station and terminal are quite far apart, the airport recommends using the Sky Train service to get from one ovbservation terrace to the other. The ticket for the observation deck is also your ticket for the Sky Train.

Observation platforms

Dusseldorf has two large observation platform. PLEASE NOTE: In the case of inclement weather the viewing terraces will remain closed. The airport asks for your understanding

Dusseldorf International has 2 premium box-seats to watch the show of aircraft traffic at Dusseldorf International Airport. You can experience the airport activity live from the terminal, from the railway station or both!

From the observation deck on the roof of the new concourse B you can watch the air traffic on the apron and the aircraft dispatch procedures. You get to the observation platform from the third floor of the terminal.

Just outside the train station you can see the police hangar. There is a crash gate you can poke your lense through to photograph any planes that may be outside. The local police wing has Bo-105s.

As it is a German airport of course you'll find a lot of Lufthansa (B737, A320, CRJ, ATR). Also international airlines like Finnair (A319, ERJ), British Airways (A319, A320, B757, B767), Air France (B737, A318, A319, A320, ERJ, CRJ), Iberia (A320), Aeroflot (TU154, A319, A320), Emirates (A330; B777), Alitalia (ERJ), LOT (ERJ), CSA, Austrian (F100), Scandinavian and much more, check the flightplans at the official website http://www.dus-int.de/dus_en/. There are also a lot of charter airlines: LTU (now Air Berlin) (A320, A321, A330) it's their base, TuiFly (B737), Air Berlin (B737, A319, A320), Condor (A320, B757, B767)

Delta Airlines (B767) took up daily flights to ATL, and Norwegian (B737) and FlyMe (B737) are new candidates to serve Scandinavia. Also, EasyJet took up some flights in early 2010 using the A319.
