Cork Airport is one of the three main international airports in the Republic of Ireland (Dublin and Shannon are the other two). Situated 5 miles(8km) to the south of Cork City Centre, the airport is the ideal gateway to the South West of Ireland. A number of regional and international destinations are served from Cork Airport. Aer Arann and Ryanair have a large presence at the airport along with Aer Lingus, which has four aircraft at based the airport, making it an important European hub. In 2007, Cork Airport handled 3.2 million passengers, making it the third busiest airport in the Republic of Ireland in terms of passenger numbers.

Continue past the airport entrance on the N27 towards Kinsale. After the airport this road becomes the R600. Turn right at Bowens Cross which is the third junction to the right and the first which has roads to the left and right. After turning right the road reaches Lios Cross after around 1000 metres. Immediately before the crossroads there is a small amount of room to park on the left. Good views of the runway and approach with excellent photography.
