==Official Spotting Locations==

The "Viewpoint Park" overlook on the West side was closed in 2001, and has now disappeared under the 3rd runway.
===Water Tank===

To the North of the airport there is a small park at 24th. Ave S. and S146th St. Arriving traffic on the 16L and 16C can be logged and photographed from here. There is room for about five cars to park.
The Port of Seattle police occasionally patrol here although technically it's not airport property. A quick ID check and they'll leave you alone. This spot is best in the morning hours and a 300mm telephoto lens is recommended.
===Parking Garage===
[[Image:Northwest N589NW.jpg|thumb|right]]
The Seatac parking garage offers a great spot for photography of airplanes. It is located on the eighth floor on the northwest side of the parking garage. This spot is the only suitable area on the eighth floor to view planes on the tarmac or runway. The eighth floor of the parking garage is used for weekly parking, so if you plan to park in the parking garage, you can do so on floor four, five or six only. Get there early if you plan to take pictures because by 2PM the sun is directly in your eyes. Heat haze in the summertime sets in at around 10-11AM.

===188th Street===

When planes are landing on runways 34R and 34C, 188th Street and 16th AVE offers good spotting opportunities. From this location you can take pictures of planes landing over the 188th Street tunnel. The best time to take pictures from this location is from 3PM to Sunset. Police activity is usually a minimal.

===Golf Course===

To the immediate S. of the airport is the Tyee Valley Golf Course.
Assuming you're not playing a round, there are a couple of spots nearby.
The car park offers views of arrivals on both runways although the trees can get in the way.

A road goes around the W. side of the course allowing for spotting runway 34R traffic (that on 34L flies directly overhead), but the subjects for photos will be a bit high and it's only good in the afternoon on sunny days. The road bends halfway down so has 2 names - 18th Ave. S. and/or S196th St.

==Locations to Avoid==

===Eastern Perimeter===

Pretty much anywhere along here, from the fire station to the FedEx facility is off-limits.
The Port police will respond very quickly to anyone "loitering" around here and move offenders on.
Kahului Airport is the primary commercial airport on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The vast majority of scheduled flights are to Honolulu, but the airport also has a number of nonstop flights to the other neighbor islands, and to the mainland USA and Canada. The airport has two runways: 2/20 serves as the primary runway for large aircraft, but it is supplemented by 5/23, which handles local flights on Cessna Caravans and other light aircraft. Helicopters operate from the heliport on the southeastern end of the field.

==Official Spotting Locations==

There are no official spotting locations at the airport.

==Other Spotting Locations==

===From the Terminal===
It is possible to take photographs from the gate areas of the terminal, past security, but you will be shooting through glass and the sun may be against you at certain times of day and at certain times of year. The glass is not particularly clean either, but you be able to find good views of aircraft on runway 2/20 or pulling in and out of gates.

===Near the Heliport Employees' Parking Lot===
The Kahului Heliport at Kahului Airport Road is located just beyond the end of Haleakala Highway, near Kala Road. As you approach the Heliport, you will see an Employee Parking Lot on the left, but immediately before that is a small driveway leading downhill towards a path. There will be some ornamental boulders on the right and room to park on the left. This is a nice spot that provides good views of landing aircraft on approach to Runway 2 with the West Maui mountains as a backdrop, as well as landing helicopters at close range. For a better view of the runways and operations at the airport itself, you may walk towards and onto the employee parking lot, which is at slightly higher elevation, but be discreet and do not approach the airport fence or engage in any other activity that might cause you to be asked to leave.
