Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located seven miles (11 km) south of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic and takeoffs and landings. [http://www.delta.com Delta Air Lines] operates the world's largest airline hub from the airport. [http://www.airtran.com AirTran Airways] also operates its largest hub at the airport. The airport has five parallel runways (8L/26R, 8R/26L, 9L/27R, 9R/27L, 10/28) and seven concourses (T, A, B, C, D, E and F, respectively).

==Official Spotting Locations==
There are no designated official spotting locations at the airport. The City of Atlanta Department of Aviation recommends the parking decks for aircraft viewing/photography.

==Other Spotting Locations==

===Old Dixie Highway===
There are numerous places to park an automobile along Old Dixie Highway, located on the east side of the airfield. This spot is perfect when arrivals are utilizing runways 26L, 26R, 27L, 27R, and 28.

===North Terminal Parking===
The North parking deck and adjacent lot are great for shooting arriving and departing flights utilizing the north runways (8L/26R, 8R/26L). The City of Atlanta Department of Aviation no longer issues use of facilities forms for spotting/photography. Parking decks are permissible areas for spotting/photography. Some APD officers may not know this so please respectably inform them this change in policy if they insist Atlanta requires this form still. Always be pleasant and comply with police or airport official's requests. If they ask you to leave even when you know you're allowed to be there, you must leave. [http://www.atlanta-airport.com/Default.asp?url=sublevels/parking/parkpage.cfm Parking Facilities Diagram]

===South Terminal Parking===
The South parking deck and adjacent lot are great for shooting arriving and departing flights utilizing the south runways (9L/27R, 9R/27L, and, to an extent 10/28).

===Concourses===
Each concourse at ATL has glass windows that offer excellent views of ramp activity as well as views of the north and south runways in some cases. The windows at each concourse are usually cleaned on a daily basis and allow for some decent photographic opportunities.

===Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel===
The [http://www.RenaissanceConcourse.com Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel] offers guest rooms with balconies that overlook the airport's runways. The Concorde Bar & Grill in the hotel also offers views of the airport.

==Regular Traffic==
ATL is inundated with Delta Air Lines and AirTran Airways traffic but also sees scheduled service from all major U.S. carriers, a handful of international airlines, and a variety of cargo operators. ATL also has a large charter presence.

First off, this info is current as of 11/10/09. Eppley is a quaint medium hub airport. It has three runways: 14L/32R, 14R/32L, and 18/36. 18/36 is only used on rare instances where there is a strong northeast or southwest wind. Most airliners can be seen landing on 14R/32L and bizjets/GA can be seen generally using 14L/32R since its closest to the FBOs.

==Primary Spotting Locations==

Parking Garage - I would recommend going up on the 5th floor. This spot is only good in the afternoon time for photos, when the sun is in the west. You could go up on the 6th floor but the tower would have a very clear view of you and your time up there might be cut short. The cops might try to move you along if you're caught. I've spoken to many people from the airport authority and they have no problem with people taking pictures up there but for some reason the cops think they do. Here are some views from the garage:

[http://www.airliners.net/photo/Midwest-Airlines/Boeing-717-2BL/1279287/L/ Climbing out from 14R]

==Other Spotting Locations==

There is a new location I've been experimenting with. It is at this location [http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=41.3166+-95.9146&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=36.726391,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=41.316819,-95.9147&spn=0.008509,0.01929&z=16 here]. I have only been here a few times. It's great for landing on 14R in the afternoon. Here's the only photo I have from there thus far: [http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9413/009edit.jpg UA 737 Landing].

==Locations to Avoid==

I do not guarantee that any of these spots won't get you kicked out. None of the spots have signs saying you cannot be there so legally you're good. But the police might still pull the private property card out on you and ask you to leave. If they do, please comply and do not argue, you'll only make more trouble for the rest of us.

==Regular Traffic==

*American - MD80, ERJ-140
*Delta - DC-9/MD88/MD90/A319/A320/CRJ-200,700,900/Embraer 175
You could go up on the 6th floor but the tower would have a very clear view of you and your time up there might be cut short. The cops might try to move you along if you're caught. I've spoken to many people from the airport authority and they have no problem with people taking pictures up there but for some reason the cops think they do. Here are some views from the garage:
First off, this info is current as of 11/10/09. Eppley is a quaint medium hub airport. It has three runways: 14L/32R, 14R/32L, and 18/36. 18/36 is only used on rare instances where there is a strong northeast or southwest wind. Most airliners can be seen landing on 14R/32L and bizjets/GA can be seen generally using 14L/32R since its closest to the FBOs.
This is the road that goes between 17R/35L and 17L/35R. It's a bit remote and the cops probably don't want people hanging out here. But if you just cruise up and down the road you can stop quickly and pick up some stuff.

==Official Spotting Locations==
