===Location=== Airport's main parking lot.
There are a lot of locations arround airport. First of all is the parking lot located at 55th in the half-way along north side of airport. At 6th floor there is a b great view of 75% of airfield. Remain part is covered by maintenance buildings and hangers. Full preview of 22 rwys treshold so all aircrafts landing from north-east are clearly visible. Also good point to take a shots of taxiing aircrafts to terminal and departing from rwy 22. Aircrafts that ending their flights are visible with thrust reverses turned on at the half of rwy 04.

Streets

You can stay at streets that surrounding airport. Watch only for police partols , but they are friendly and they'll propably like to talk with planespotters. Good place is a Central/65th street corner depends on lighting you can move little east or west off Central along 63th street. Good place to spot approaching aircrafts at 04 and departure from 22.
Small parking lot in the half of 63th street is also good spot.
Next good spot is a place near Central/ 55th next to Bus parking lot . Good place to spot departures from 31 and arrivals at 13.

Sometimes there is opportunity to take a shot thru the fence along Central near Signature Flight Support. But watch police.

Toronto Pearson is Canada's busiest commercial airport. Air Canada is the dominant airline together with its regional subsidiary Air Canada Jazz. The airport is located West of the City in Mississauga and can be accessed from several major highways (401, 410 and 409) and there is a coach link from the downtown area. At present there is no rail link from Toronto to the airport.

The airport has 3 parallel East/West runways (23,24L,24R and 05,06L,06R) as well as two parallel North/South runways (33L,33R and 15L,15R). There are three terminals, most International flights operate from Terminal 3, with Air Canada using Terminals 1 and 2. Major International airlines using Toronto Pearson include British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Aeroflot, United, Continental, Northwest and Delta.

The airport can be quite slow at times and movements are dominated by A319/320s and Embraer and Canadair Regional Jets. There are numerous good spotting/photo locations and hassle from the Police is very rare (But not unheard of - especially when El Al flights are due in or out).

Note there is no "official" spotting area at YYZ, it is tolerated in some places within the airport.
There is a smoking area on the departures level roadway with views over the AC Jazz Dash 8 and CRJ ramp. The light is best for photography in the mornings.

From Hwy 427 North/South take Derry Rd. exit and head west at the intersection. Follow Derry Rd. for approximately 5 kms past the Connie Restaurant . FedEx is at the next light at Bramalea Rd. Turn left on Bramalea and follow the road to the end. The hill is on the right.

From Hwy 407 East/West take the Bramalea Rd. exit and head South. You will cross Derry Rd. Once on the ramp it will split into to ramps Terminals and Airport Rd. Take the Airport Rd. and follow the road to the end. The hill is on the right.

From Hwy 401 East/West take the Dixie Rd exit and head North. Turn right on Derry and continue until you see the FedEx facility. Turn right and continue down past the FedEx entrance.

From Brampton/North/Hwy 410 exit the 410 at Derry and turn left to head East and continue until you see the FedEx facility. Turn right and continue down past the FedEx entrance.
Ensure you park on the right side of the road only to allow access to the crash gate at the end of the road and please do not block access to the crash gate.

FedEx is only suitable from early afternoon onwards as the Sun is facing in the morning. Good touchdown and approach shots can be had for 05 and it is excellent early evening when 23 is in use as it is located roughly where most heavies rotate on departure.
Police have been known to check this location occasionally and it does get very popular on Summer weekends. I have not seen anyone getting moved on unless they are obstructing the crash gate or parking on the left side of the road.
Be careful if you are taking kids, there is a police firing range right beside the hill, which is often in use.

If you are flying with Air Canada you can obtain a boarding pass from the machines or online up to 12 hours before departure, this means that anyone with an evening flight can spend all day using the departure lounge windows. Bags can not be checked in until nearer departure time however there are storage facilities on the check in level. There is no problem exiting the departure lounge via the arrivals channel.

Main spotting location is located near USG Corp. parking area at Scott Ave close to Mannheim Rd (US12/US45) and Lawrence Ave intersection. There is nice view of southside part of airport and full view of 28, 27L ,27R and 22L glidepath. Also thru fences, Delta, Mike and Quebec taxiways are visible when aircrafts taxing to rwy 22L for departure. To take a photo at 28, 80mm and up lenses are ok. Close to service gate at the end of Scott Ave even 17-20mm lenses are ok when A340 or B747 is approaching. Good spotting place during all day when wind is from the west, southwest or northwest. Parking lot is in Shiller Park, but Scott Ave is in Chicago as Mannheim Rd at airport area.

When driving by Mannheim Rd north take exit to Balmoral Ave east. Pass first stop sign and bridge over railroad , turn right twice and park at Metra Station parking lot. If no cars on the parking buy a ticket at cash station (sometimes Metra peoples or Rosemont police can check ticket) and go on the bridge. Nice view from the bridge, and when camera has min. 200mm lens good place to take a picture of taxiing aircraft to/from rwy 22L, approaching aircraft to rwy 28 (summertime early morning).

Next good location is Allstate Arena area located at Mannheim Rd(US12/US45) between Higgins Rd (IL72) and Touhy Ave. Full preview for rwy 22R during all day (different places depends on where the sun is). From 9-10 am in the morning till 2-3pm good place is the small parking lot opposite car wash just at the Mannheim Rd.

In the summer, Sundays on the south side of Allstate Arena building is a flea market. You can walk between sellers, look for some good lens and takie shots. In wintertime, access to the parking is closed.

First of all is a Thorthons gas station area and there is a good place to take a shot of aircraft climbing out from rwy 32L and approaching rwy 14R mainly in the afternoon, but in the next two years this runway will be closed.

Early morning at sunrise you can stop at a small construction area with separated parking (orange fence around) north of Devon Ave heading north at east side. Approaching aircraft to rwy 14R are clearly visible.

Arrivals/departures at rwy 14L/32R
Driving along Touhy/ Higgins east when pass R/R turn right at Mt Prospect road towards employees airport gate. After 50-100 feet turn right on small circle. Good place to take some shots , but sometimes Aviatio Police can be there. This rwy also will be closed for about two three years.

The best way to take a good shot is the car. Without a car you can get one maybe two places but you'll never know the wind direction even if you check METAR.

Interesting place is the spot area at rwy 10. Construction site made two hills between York Rd and airport south of rwy 10 glidepath. Acces is easy - only pass R/R ang climb on chosen hill (one if closer glidepath and one is more south). There is no fence separating airport from hills. Whole airport is visible.
But summertime afternoons good place is abandoned fastfood restaurant near to Foster Ave.

Rwy 10 arrivals and 28 departures are visible from both locations.

===Irving Park Road===

Irving Park Road (IL19) is the road at south side of the airport. You can stay there for a little while but not long because of the police. It's a good place to take a shot when arrivals 4R, or 22L take offs. But don't stay for long. There is a point you can take a shot of landing aircraft without any obstructing objects because the fence is below road and runway.
But the best place to take a shot of arriving aircraft at 4R is a local road close to trailers' parking. Driving west by Irving Pk take at lights (close to 4R apron) left and behind curve left once again. Stop at curb. Arrivals at 4R and 22L departures are clearly visible.

Avoid to take a shots at South Cargo Area. A lot of Aviation Police and sometimes you can meet a FBI patrol.

===West end===

At west end do not look for the quiet place between manufacturers' shops. Also try to not block the traffic at all streets around airport.

Do not try to search the place for spotting close to General Aviation ramp near Cargo North. Also bad place is the 3 floor parking behind to office buildings located at Higgins Rd at rwy 22R approaching lights.
