Since the regional airline '''Skyways''' ceased operations this year (2012), Karlstad airport has big numbers of passengers. From a Fokker 50 five times a day, to a Saab 340 three times a day. But the charter flights, and the Ryanair flights to Girona is keeping the airport alive.

Later in 2012 Norwegian will start up own flights from Karlstad to the Canaries, with an Boeing 737 once per week (Mondays).

There's a bench to the right of the terminal which you can stand on and get over the fence to take photos of the planes parking straight in front of you.

You can also go inside the terminal and have a wide wiew over the tarmac.

If you would like to see the cargo planes, you have to walk around 250 meters to the right of the terminal and there you can take a photo trough the fence over the airplanes. But Be careful, the airport staff might not like it.

And there's another place, on the other side of the runway, the aviation club has a tiny hangar. If you get there somehow, you might get a good evening photo, but ask beforehand if it is ok.

There's around 50% charter flights as there is regular flights. Most often you will see Boeing 737 family or Airbus A320 family airplanes as charters but there have been nigger planes aswell as a Mint Airways Boeing 757.

Since the regional airline '''Skyways''' ceased operations this year, Karlstad airport has lost a huge number of passengers as they went from 5 daily departures weekdays to Stockholm Arlanda and 3 daily departures weekdays to Copenhagen, to 3 daily departures each and a Saab 340 instead of a Fokker 50. But the charter flights, and the Ryanair flights to Girona is keeping the airport alive.
