Located in the former Royal Docks only 6 miles from central London this airport handles turboprop and jet aircraft up to BAe 146 size on scheduled routes to business destinations in Europe. In recent years there has been an increase in movements by biz jets. Busiest periods are weekday mornings and evenings and Sunday evenings, the airport is closed on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

Official Spotting Locations

Outside Terminal Building

Outside the terminal building there are some seats facing the runway over the water, this area is mainly used by airport staff on a smoking break or passengers in need of a pre flight cigarette. From here only the eastern half of the runway can be seen.

Other Spotting Locations

From the north side of Royal Albert Dock there is an unobstructed over water view of the entire airport. This is a public area with some offices, restaurants and a boat club that use the dock. To reach this spot take the DLR to Royal Albert station.
